Joining Us

Club membership is available to both experienced and novice paddlers. Youngsters under 11 years old may be required to join the club with an adult family member who can take responsibility for them.
The main club session takes place on Saturday mornings throughout the year, and is suitable for a wide range of abilities.

The first step for those interested in joining is to visit the club, so that you can see what we have to offer and ask us any questions you may have. Please make an appointment with the John on 0208 592 9904

Under 18s should visit with an adult who is responsible for them. Your visit might include a chance to get on the water with one of our coaches. Beginners may be recommended to attend one of our occassional introductory courses.
If you are already an able paddler, you can arrange to attend one of our club sessions as a guest before deciding whether you would like to apply for membership of the club. Guests under 18 will need to arrive with an adult who can sign the consent form on their behalf.

Full Membership of the club, senior £100 per year, junior £15 per month.  The subscription year runs from January to December, and membership is calculated pro rata for those joining mid-year. As a club member you will be able to use club equipment and receive further coaching free of charge. Where space permits, you may also be able to store a private boat at the club.

A limited Associate Membership for infrequent
paddlers £3 on every visit.
(There is no session charge for Full members).

As soon as you are proficient on the water, we would like you to begin racing with us. The races generally take place on a Sunday (marathons) or over a weekend (sprints) - see our club events diary. Most paddlers find they enjoy using their new skills in this way and attending the races is a sociable family event. Canoe racing is as much a team event as an individual one, but there is no limit on the number of team members who can participate, so everybody gets the chance to join in and contribute to the club's success. Most races are run according to British Canoe Union rules and require BCU membership to compete. Under-18s gain automatic membership of the BCU though their club membership, but adults should join on their own behalf. (You can join the BCU online). There is usually an entry fee for races.
